Here’s some tips to help you RECYCLE RIGHT at the curb!
Place your material loose into your blue bin. Please DO NOT BAG. For safety reasons, our staff cannot open bags as they have no idea what’s inside. It might be good clean recycling, but it might also be needles, garbage, sharp objects, etc.
Please rinse out your containers before recycling. Food left in containers will rot, smell and attract rodents.
We sort through tons and tons of curbside material each week. Please helps us by keeping unaccepted items out of your curbside bin. Here’s some examples of the contamination we find each week:
- Glass jars
- Garbage bags
- Diapers (so many diapers )
- Plastic bags
- Styrofoam
- Toasters and coffee pots
- Binders
- Potato chip bags
- Clothing
- Pot and pans
- Kids toys
Good news though! These items can’t be put in your curbside bin but many of them can be dropped off at a recycling depot or a thrift store to be recycled/reused.
Curbside Recycling Audits happen throughout the City in the spring and summer months. Auditors look for things like plastic bags, glass and Styrofoam. These three items are depot-only items. Please do not put them in your curbside blue bin!
